What to Do If I Suspect Violence

If you suspect violence, do not ignore the situation. Silence means approval of the perpetrator’s actions and support for violence.

IN CASE OF PHYSICAL VIOLENCE, if you think that the situation is critical to the health of a woman (man), at first let the perpetrator think that you have noticed it (doorbell ring, shout) – it is often enough to stop the situation. Later report this to the emergency number 112. By no means respond violence to violence.
IN OTHER CASES, if a person does not tell you but you suspect that she/ he can be a victim of violence, you may contact social services(crisis centres, specialised help centres) or the police – it is better be safe and report than sorry that you have not done that later.
